Organized virtual seders are popping up every day—check back throughout the week to find more. Whether you do it yourself or tag along, NuRoots wishes you a meaningful, peaceful, wonderful Passover!
A good seder requires some advance preparation and a virtual seder will require a few added steps. First and foremost, figure out which platform will suit your needs best, and make sure everyone in your group has the same capabilities and feels comfortable with the technology. Once you’ve decided on a virtual platform, make sure everyone downloads it in advance and even tests it out to get more comfortable with it. And at the beginning of the seder, take a moment to check in and make sure everyone understands how the evening will flow.

Hosting a seder is a big responsibility, but you’re not alone. Lean on your community to help organize something really special. Delegate! This doesn’t have to all fall onto your shoulders. Work together to come up with creative and engaging ways to locate yourselves in the Passover story and make it relevant to you. Here are a few ways to do this:
• A Zoom or FaceTime or Skype host to set up the meeting and run the tech pieces during the call
• A music director to create a playlist for the night or a list of songs to sing
• A food coordinator to create a shared cookbook and find new recipes
• Leading rituals
• Explaining sections of the haggadah
• Reading texts out loud
• A group Passover cookbook in a shared Google Doc, where everyone adds one recipe to have a “virtual” potluck where people can “bring” certain foods to the meal
• Meals together over video to get your quality time in
